A whole lot planned as one sequence, from the pool terrace down to a putting green that follows the fall of the ground.

This was a full rear-yard design rather than a set of separate features, and the levels were the problem worth solving. The ground drops away from the house, so the design uses that fall instead of fighting it.

Design

The upper terrace holds the pool, the raised spa and a covered ramada with a full outdoor kitchen. Below it, a broad lawn steps down to a putting green that curves around a planted desert bed of boulders, agave and specimen yucca, so the lower garden has something to look at as well as something to do.

Build

Merit Landworks handled the design and the build: paving, retaining, pool terrace, ramada, outdoor kitchen, synthetic turf, boulder setting, planting, irrigation and low-level lighting throughout.
